She's best known for her roles on the sitcom Who's the Boss? and as Phoebe Halliwell on the fantasy series Charmed.

Her professional acting debut came when she was 8, she won a part in an open audition for a national tour of Annie. Having gained a reputation, she appeared in television commercials and off-Broadway productions.. After playing in numerous plays and musicals she made her television debut in 1984 at the age of 11 as "Samantha Micelli" in the sitcom "Who's The Boss". During the eight year showing of "Who's The Boss" she won three Youth in Film awards for Best Supporting Actress.

Her film debut was at the age of 10 in "Old Enough". Two years later she played Arnold Schwarzenegger's daughter in the hit movie "Commando". Later in life as a teen, Alyssa recorded five albums in Japan, all of which went platinum. Over the years Alyssa has appeared in many movies, like "Fear", "Poison Ivy 2-Lily", "Embrace of the Vampire" and "Below Utopia".

Milano is also an accomplished singer and recording artist, though not in her home country of the United States. She has released 5 albums that have all reached sales of over 1 million copies in Japan. She even appeared in the blink-182 video for the song "Josie".

In the 90s Alyssa has made some distinct steps away from her "innocent girl growing up" image, including starring in the CBS TV movie about the Amy Fisher/Joey Buttafuoco situation. She followed in Drew Barrymore's path in the 1995 film Poison Ivy II: Lily (Barrymore played one of the competing Amy Fishers on "Amy Fisher night", when each of the three networks carried a made-for-TV Amy Fisher movie; She also played the lead in the first Poison Ivy film.). She also made notable appearances in Double Dragon, the racy Embrace Of The Vampire, and last year's Fear.

On a personal note she has an interesting love life. Alyssa was engaged to Scott Wolf (Double Dragon) in 1993, but their engagement was broken off. Alyssa met her husband singer Cinjun August Tate in 1999 and they got married after a few dates. Alyssa and Tate were separated soon within a year after their marriage.
