Born in 1915, in Mexico Antonio Rudolfo Oaxaca Quinn is Oscar winning actor and also is well known for his talents in painting and writing. In his youth Quinn was a boxer and also followed a scholarship in art and architecture. His interests in acting earned him roles in theatre which influenced him into the film industry.
Quinn started his acting in 1936 in the films ‘Parole’ and ‘the milky way’. By the end of the 40s, Quinn had starred in over 50 movies and was popularly known for his ethnic villainous roles. He had played everything from a Mafia don to a red Indian chief. In 1952, he won an Academy Award for his role in ‘Viva Zapata’and in 1956 he again won the Oscar for the same title. Towards the late 50s and early 60s, Quinn wanted to take up more serious roles so he allowed his age to show and was chosen for the roles he played in ‘The Guns of Navarone’, ‘Requiem for a heavy weight’ and ‘Lawrence of Arabia’.
In personal life too Quinn was as extravagant as his roles in movies. He was the father of 13 children whom he had with three known mistresses. In 2000, Quinn was diagnosed with Throat cancer, which caused his death in 2001. Quinn died at the age of 86, and is said to be a great inspiration to the film Industry.
