Born in 1974, Christian Charles Philip Bale is a British Actor who has risen to stardom and is attracting the roles of many controversial movies. His acting skills are considered to be very out of the box by many critics and Entertainment weekly named him as one of the Most Creative actors in the entertainment business. Bale’s skills are well recognized in movies like ‘American Psycho’, ‘Batman Begins’, and ‘The Prestige’.
Christian bale had started his acting career by the time he was 13, when he starred as a British boy who looses his parents and finds himself in a Japanese base during World War II, in the Steven Speilberg movie ‘Empire of the Sun’. Bale made his captivating role in 1999’s ‘American Psycho. He plays the role of Patrick Bateman who is an ordinary yuppie who develops a dark and murderous person inside him. Director Mary Harron had initially asked Leonardo Di Caprio to take on the role but was turned down due to Caprio’s hectic schedule, later she got hold of Christian Bale who did great justice to her vision of a serial killer.
The years 2002 and 2003, were pretty rough on Christian Bale’s career. He was suffering from depression and his work as an actor was also not applauded by critics. Both movies (‘Reign of Fire’ and ‘Equilibrium’) that he starred in during this period were great flops and didn’t work according to expectations. In 2004, Bale climbed back up into his rightful place after his work on the feature film ‘The Machinist’. Bale plays the role of Trevor Reznik, who is a chronic insomniac tormented in his own ways. For this role Bale went on a crash diet and lost close to 65lbs to weigh just 120lbs.
Following ‘The Machinist’ he was called in to do ‘Batman Begins’, for which he gained 100 lbs more to reach his normal weight plus another 20lbs of muscle. Bale plays one of the darkest marvel comic characters, which was considered to be a very heroic and action packed role. His role in ‘Batman Begins’ also earned him the best actor award at the MTV movie awards. The movie’s fame later went into playstation and X box video games where Christian Bale provides the voice for Batman. In 2006, he also starred in the great drama and thriller ‘The Prestige’. He stars with Hugh Jackman and Scarlett Johanssen as the magician who would do anything to keep his secrets safe. His role in ‘The Prestige’ was amazing, alongside Hugh Jackman who plays the role of his equally good Magician nemesis.
Christian Bale is still to reach the peak of his acting career in Hollywood. He can be considered a spot on Oscar Nominee provided he does the right roles.
