Dennis William Quaid was born in 1954, in Texas. He dropped out of the university of Houston to pursue a career in acting in California. After having a very rough start he was chosen by Peter Yates to do a title role in his movie ‘Breaking Away’, which was his breakthrough performance.
Through out the 80s, Dennis appeared in many movies playing both Dramatic and Comedic roles. Towards the late 80s Dennis was on a Cocaine addiction that made his career slow down and kept him away from the movies for a while. His next performance on an Award wining movie was in 2000. He starred as an attorney who defends a drug dealer in the Award wining movie ‘Traffic’. The uproar the movie created earned him many other roles in movies like ‘Frequency’, ‘Far from Heaven’, and ‘In Good Company’.
In personal life Dennis plays with a rock band by the name of The Sharks, and is an ardent fan of the rock band Phish. He is also considered a golfer, since he was rated as the top golfer in Hollywood. Dennis is heavily involved in the international Hospital for Children in New Orleans, which is a charity organization helping children recover from fatal medical conditions.
