Joshua Daniel Hartnett was born in 1978 in San Francisco, California. He started his acting career by appearing in the teenage targeted film in 1998 ‘Halloween H20: 20 Years Later’ and has continued to star in many other Hollywood movies throughout to prove his talents to the Showbiz industry. Josh started off as a high school footballer who broke his knee and later seeked to a career in acting. He attended the Youth Performance Company in Minneapolis to achieve his acting grades.
Before appearing in his debut movie ‘Halloween H20: 20 Years Later’, he was actively involved in many TV series and TV commercials. His next teenage role was in the thriller ‘The faculty’, where Josh plays the role of a teenage college student by the name of Zeke, who also gets the kids their drugs. He also caught the eye of Director Sophia Coppola who employed his skills in the 1999 hit film ‘The Virgin Suicides’.
Having done his course in teenage roles, Josh started doing more serious roles, which he started off in the 2001 hit ‘Pearl harbor’. Later he plays the role of an American soldier stuck in a crisis situation in Somalia in ‘Black Hawk Down’. In 2005, Robert Rodriquez asked him to take up the role of the assassin in the comic strip based movie Sin City. This gave him the chance to act along popular figures such as Bruce Willis, Benicio Del Toro, Jamie King and Clive Owen. Later he starred again with Bruce Willis, Lucy Lu, Morgan Freeman and Ben Kinsley in the not so mainstream movie ‘Lucky Number Slevin’. His last daring performance was in ‘The Black Dahlia’, where he plays the role of a police detective who tries to solve the murder of Elizabeth Short. The movie was directed by Brain De Palma and he co stars with Aaron Eckhart, Hilary Swank and Scarlet Johansson.
