Martin Fitzgerald Lawrence is an American stand up comedian, actor, director and producer. Martin Lawrence was born 1965 in Germany while his father was serving the US army. Lawrence later attended high school in Maryland, Washington DC, and became a Mid-Altantic Golden Gloves boxing contender. However his interest in the entertainment industry made him move from Kansas City to California to become a stand up comedian in the Kings Wood Comedy club.
His excellent skills as a stand up comedian attracted many sit com producers, thus he went on to do popular sit com ‘What’s happening Now!!’. Following this he was chosen to host the HBO Def Comedy Jam series, in which gave him a lot of mainstream exposure. Martin also appeared in his own sit com ‘martin’ along with Tisha Campbell and Thomas Mikal Ford, which ran on fox for almost 5 years.
Towards the mid nineties martin went on to do some very commercial roles in blockbuster films like; ‘Bad Boys’, along Will Smith, ‘Big Momma’s House’, and ‘Black knight’. His most recent performance was with John Travolta, Woody Allen, Wiliam H. Macy and Ray Liotta in the 2007 film ‘Wild Hogs’. Martin plays the role of a unemployed man who escapes his stressful life to take a Biker road trip with his good friends. Martin is said to be one the highest paid comedians in Hollywood who earns over $10 million per role.
