Michael Douglas is the son of the renowned actor ‘Kirk Douglas’. He was born in 1944 in New Jersey. Being a son to a well known actor made him well versed with his father’s profession. It was in the 1972 that Michael came into the spotlight by starring in the long running TV series ‘The Streets of San Francisco’. In 1975 he also went to win an Academy award for producing ‘One flew over the Cuckoo’s nest’.
In 1988, Michael won an Academy Award for his performance in ‘Wall Street’, which led him to continue doing roles with the same persona. He specializes in character acting and is said to be one of the most expensive actors to hire. His roles in movies like ‘The war of the roses’, ‘basic Instinct’, and ‘Disclosure’ proved his talents and raised his profile even further.
During the late 90s he took up more serious roles, playing the American President in ‘The American President’, a lion hunter in ‘The Ghost and the Darkness’, and a frustrated husband in ‘A perfect murder’. After he faced a downfall in his career doing ‘It runs in the Family’ he gave a break to his acting career for 3 years and starred again ‘The Sentinel’ in 2006. Michael plays the role of an experienced CIA officer who is framed as a terrorist and is also having a secret relationship with the president’s wife.
Michael Douglas was married to Diandra Luther for 25 years after which he divorced her in 2000 and got married to popular actress Catherine Zeta Jones, whom he starred with in the award wining movie ‘Traffic’.
