Morgan Freeman is a well known Film Director, actor and film Narrator. He has gained a great deal of recognition in the 90s with his elderly roles played in movies. Freeman started his acting career in 1965 in the film ‘The Royal Hunt of the Sun’, and also was a well received stage actor in many of the off Broadway plays he was a part of.

His breakthrough role was the in the PBS kid’s Television series ‘The Electric Company’ and on the soap ‘Another World’. Through out the 80s Freeman appeared in many co star roles that kept his name active, and later raised his profile by appearing as Chauffeur Hoke in ‘Driving Miss Daisy’ in 1989. In 1994, he played a redeemed convict in ‘The Shawsank Redemption’ for which he nominated for an Oscar. Following this Freeman was a part of some of the blockbusters in the 90s such as ‘Se7en’, ‘outbreak’, Chain Reaction’, ‘Deep impact’ and ‘Hard Rain’.

Freeman is recognized for his distinctive voice, making him a frequent choice for narration. In 2005 alone, he provided narration for two of the most successful films of the year, War of the Worlds and the Academy Award-winning documentary film, March of the Penguins. After being nominated for an Oscar for three times, he won one for his performance in Clint Eastwood’s ‘Million Dollar Baby’ in 2006.
His much awaited movie ‘The Bucket list’ is due to be released before the end of 2007, where he stars alongside Jack Nicholson.

In real life, Freeman is a restaurant owner and also owns a Blues club by the name of Ground Zero. He also has a private pilot’s license. Freeman has quoted his interest to stop racism in many interviews, one such one would be what he said to Mike Wallace in 60 Minutes - "I am going to stop calling you a white man and I'm going to ask you to stop calling me a black man".
