A young rising star from Kent, Orlando Jonathan Blanchard Bloom was born in 1977. His breakthrough role as Legolas in the 2000 classic film ‘Lord of the rings : fellowship of the ring’, brought his name out into the spotlight. Having completed his roles in the Lord of the rings sequels he was chosen to play the role of Will turner in the 2003 film ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black pearl’, along with Keira Knightley and Johnny Depp. The very next year he played the leading role of Paris in 2004s hit ‘Troy’. He performs opposite Brad Pitt, and alongside Eric Bana, Peter O Toole and Brain Cox.
Orlando was also chosen to play the title role in ‘Kingdom of heaven’, which further raised his profile in 2005. His recent appearances were in the sequels to the Pirates of the Caribbean – ‘Dead Man’s Chest’ and ‘At World’s End’. In real life Orlando suffers from a spine injury from a fall he had trying to fix a roof in a friends house. Orlando is a practicing Buddhist and is also an environmental activist.
