Peter O Toole is an eight time Oscar nominated Irish actor.

A living legend in the International film industry - Peter Seamus O'Toole is one of the very few actors who has been constantly recognized for his performance through out his acting career. He has been nominated for eight Academy awards, won three Golden Globe awards and also an Emmy award. Even though he has not bagged an Oscar for any of his key roles, he won a honorary Oscar for his work in the movies.

Serving the English Royal Navy prior to his acting career, Peter always wanted to excel in Poetry and Drama. Later he joined the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art on a scholarship to learn his acting skills. Peter described this as "the most remarkable class the academy ever had, though we weren't reckoned for much at the time. We were all considered dotty." He started his acting career by doing Shakespearean plays during the late 50s. In 1962, he starred in his first role as ‘Lawrence of Arabia’ for which he was nominated an Academy award.

Peter was the first actor to have been nominated for two Oscars for the same role as King Henry II in 1964s ‘Becket’ and in 1968 ‘The Lion in Winter’. He had a very active career through out the 70s and the 80s, within which period he was nominated for three more Oscars. These were ‘The Ruling class’ (1972), ‘The Stunt man’ (1980), and ‘My Favorite year’ (1982).

In 2004, Peter starred as King Priam in hit film ‘Troy’. His latest appearance was in 2006s ‘Venus’, in which plays the role of an elderly actor who develops an intimate relationship with a young girl. Peter has also written two books which speaks mostly about his personal experiences as a child in the World war I, and also his experiences in acting school. His writing is well received by critics, who say that it has a lot of induced poetry, rhythm and style to it.
